Chemicals and their uses

In an attempt to learn more about taxidermy and some of the chemicals needed I am makeing this post.

White Gas, Mineral spirits = Cutting grease from birds.

Formaldyhide = Preservative for "velvet" antlers. Birds feet/legs.

What else?

I'd suggest you get some good videos or books concerning what you're attempting and commit them to memory. Neither of the chemicals you mentioned are either necessary or recommended by many of us.


Instead of formaldehyde

use preservz it. It is just as effective as formaldehyde but it is not as dangerous. Saves you some cancer in the longrun. Degreasing, mineral spirits are fine and I used them for some time. But now I am using dawn dishwashing liquid. It degreases everything from skulls, hides, etc. much better and more effective without the dangers involved using mineral spirits. Plus I think it works faster too.
