Coyote Skinning

Submitted by Will_182 on 11/25/2002. ( )

I just skinned my first coyote Saturday and it had such an awful smell to it. I've done a couple of smaller mammals and deer and elk before, but nothing quite as rancid as this was. He was leaking some kind of clear liquid when I hung him upside down. My question is do coyotes always smell this bad, or did i just get a bad specimen?

If they really stink, its really bad.

Stuff a paper towel in the anus, it will stop a large part of the odiferous smells. Scent glands and exhaust gases.

they always smell

coyotes always have a bad smell. just remember to use rubber gloves and a dust mask...will help keep the smell off of ya. Also if mounting, might want to soak in some odor out or somthing before and after fleashing.
