Most of the time you will not see a question from me, because I am too busy hitting the little orange button. Everything I need is always there, thanks to all. Anyway something crossed my mind the other day and I did my little search today on this subject. It is about a certain supplier, We can call him [a supply company] anyway as I did the search I found out why I have not heard or see him in here. Is the situation still the same with him? Has he changed his practice? Does he regret what he's done to the other taxi's. Not knowing what had happened I recently purchased several of the video's offered from his catalog. Anyway what I was wondering is there anyone who uses his merchandise now. I know that Bill Yox had a very strong opinion on this matter, and I try to respect everyones opinion. Unless I hear different, I think I will have to agree with Bill. I hope this is not too sore of a subject to be maturely discussed, I want to know if anything has changed with this man. Kenny

Would we feel as we do with any act of contrition? The less said about this individual on this forum, the better. Even the mention of his name gives him support and comfort that he's still "remembered". Kenny, not to cast stones, but comments and questions just like yours seem to be cyclic (about once a month and always seemingly on a Friday hoping Ken is off for the weekend) and those of us who know the whole story get categorized as bad guys when we tell people, CHANGE THE SUBJECT!
I guess the way he was so "in your face" about it, almost daring guys to do anything about it makes me doubt any future sincerity. Having said that, he did indeed steal from my friends who are suppliers and from us as taxidermists. I hope he creates his own stuff and sells it and continues to do well. I had one brush with him that assures me we need not do business with eachother. As for others, it appalls me that they would support him knowing that he was doing that. As for 2002, I dont know what he does. If you are comfortable using him, do so. Sites like this cant use his name, allow folks to use his name and then protect themselves from retaliation...
I occasionally order a form for deer that have short briskets. (Saves cutting off)
He sent me a catalog with the order. He has sculpted 2 versions of the sleeping giant. I know that the original taxidermist altered a form. I guess that it's legal, but just goes to show you.
I don't even like his forms, but I don't know of any other supplier who sells short shoulder forms.
first of all George, thank you, Like I said most of the time I don't speak up, instead I just use the search button and get most everything that I need from there. I notice on most of the posts that you usually have your advice, opinions, comments or whatever. Like I said thank you, and that is said with sincerity, as I have gained a considerable amount of knowledge from you. I did not bring up this subject to poke a bear with a short stick, I did not know anything about the events that took place until earlier today. And even now only have a vague idea of what took place. This is why I placed the post in the beginner category. Now it's my turn, George back off a little bit, I did not post this on a Friday hoping Ken would be off. Like I said this is the first I have ever heard of the incident. I do read the archives, a lot, and I guess it never dawned on me why I didn't see the name. I think as a beginner, that I should have the right to, no wait, any taxidermist should have the right to know about what was done. I am not asking for any more details, as I have made my choice not to do any further business with this individual. As far as bringing up this name again, no I won't but George please go easy on me, I didn't stay up all night just trying to think of a way to get under your skin. I sincerely had concerns about whether to continue with this individual or not, I was just trying to resolve the matter for myself, that is all. Oh, George one more thing, Have a Merry Christmas, and thanks again.
Bill, I am indeed sorry to hear that he did steal from your friends, I myself cannot do business with a person like that, I am almost saddened because there were several videos that I really wanted to purchase from him, but knowing a little more of the story I will not be able to conduct business with him. Bill, as I told George, I have gained a substantial amount of knowledge from you also, Thank you, keep up the good work, and have a Merry Christmas.
This guy is like the bad uncle that nobody in the family wants to talk about. It's not going to make him go away.George, how can you help but not to remember the crap that he did.Who else was doing the same thing he was and did not get caught?I still get a catalog every year.I use it to start my wood stove.
I've used those forms. But in my defense, I did not know about what had happened until I seen it on here a while back. I've since changed to McKenzie, which I like better anyway, they fit our deer better. The problem is that I have 2 customers that insist on those forms. They like Arnold Swartz?(sp)deer, and I'm having trouble convincing them that I can give the other forms deeper muscling if that's what they really want. Personally I don't like that much muscle, but that is what they want. Thought about just telling them that I "can't" get those forms anymore and let them take it however they want (out of business, don't make them anymore, moral reasons, self respect and respect to others).
I know I'm in trouble, but please go easy on me guys.
Happy holidays, BP
And I didn't take it as you poking a bear with a short stick. I just remarked that it DOES usually get posted on a Friday. You could look it up if Ken didn't keep this place cleaned up. I recognized your wording as being unfamiliar versus the instigating type, and that's why I worded it the way I did. Many people might be surprised that I actually think about what I'm saying before I write it. (Sad, huh? LOL)But if you haven't read the whole explicit story, click "Taxidermy Net Home" above, then click "Related Links" and under the Taxidermy Industry, click Copying Mannikins & The Law. It was bad enough to steal the forms, but he knowingly used ficticious names and addresses to conceal the fact only to claim he didn't see anything wrong with the practice. And you certainly AREN'T under my skin. I only suffer chiggers in that position and if you think I can ever help you, don't hesitate to email me. If I don't know, I'll send you to someone who does (like Yox, LOL). And a very Merry Christmas to you and yours as well.
George said it as well as anyone could have. Neither of us minds answering a sincere question as yours. Have a Merry Christmas! By the way, call Research Mannikins for some really nice selection of how to videos!
George and Bill thanks for the replies. This short discussion has in some way help me. After my last posts though I started to wonder if somehow he should be remembered. What I mean is this, I unknowingling supported him and his company, if I had known the story I would have purchased videos elsewhere. Bill by the way I have purchased several of the WASCO videos. and I am slowly getting all of the Breakthrough manuals. I am sure these will be just as good. Anyway I must get back to the archives for a while, I have become addicted, as I have been off of work for 2 months, job related injury. I feel that this matter has been solved for me. ENOUGH SAID
If I remember correctly he was the first one to come out with
polyurethane forms. How many people jumped on that bandwagon?
I have about 15 catalogues many with identical poses with minor
alterations from different supply companies for mammals who is
copying who? Incidentally I order most of my forms from Makenzie
I Also like Ben Mears headforms
And the courts already DECIDED who copied who. Ford invented the Car and the Wright Brothers the airplane, but others manufactured their own without stealing copyrights and patents.
Dont you think some of the money awards were excessive.
ilearned from a reliable source years ago that he was copying
other taxidermists forms. I was also informed that one of the
suppliers who collected damages was copyimg his head forms at that time .I enjoy your posts even tho you are a bit rough on the
new comers at times. Hope you have a merry christmas and a
happy and prosperous new year remember "tis the season to be
jolly" altho I dont think you are the type to "don any gay
apparrel".
