Hello to all. I have a squirrel and a pheasant and will be using borax on them (as a beginner). I have all of my products except for a hide adhesive. I have a book about taxidermy (Taxidermy Guide) by Russell Tinsley and it never mentions an adhesive. I do not understand this but anyway...my question is what sort of a product I can buy locally without ordering it? Is there any type of adhesive that can be purchased from a Home Depot, Wal-Mart, etc.? Like I said, I am a beginner and have everything but the glue. I will buy commercial adhesives when I do a few more mounts but for my first one, I am looking for something easy to obtain.
Thanks to all!
Daniel

Also, what sort of clay can I purchase locally too? (for around the eyes, feet, etc.)
Thanks
Wal-Mart's cheap caulk will work for your squirrel. Use it on your pheasant to fill in the waddles. I would skip the glue on the rest of the bird. You can put it throught the eye hole after the head is mounted. I would order a higher grade hide paste for your work if you continue. I still buy caulk for my fish. Good Luck, I started with the same book in the '80's.
Daniel. here's a simple hint if you dont wanna wait for your order to arrive.Get a little carpet glue. works very much like hide paste. and for the clay, potters clay ,non oil based. or craft clay non oil based. it;s very plyable. and can be used for around the eye area's on your forms. and will harden without cracking. just an ideah hope it;ll help. goodluck.
