muskrat skull

On my dear hunt about two weeks ago I happened to come across what I think is a muskrat skull. I would like to clean it and preserve it somehow. The only thought that came to mind was bleaching it since it is just a skull, but I don't know the right amount of bleach to use. I don't want to hurt the skull, so if anyone out there has any suggestions, I would love to hear them.
Thanks,
Jim Rude

No bleach

Use hydrogen peroxide instead. The bleach will eat at the skull. Even after it is rinsed off. You can buy a jug of peroxide for your local store and set the skull right into it. After it is whitened you can take it out and rinse it off and display it.
