First fox

I have mounted 9 deer shoulder mounts (strictly as a hobbiest) and enjoy doing this quit a lot. Every time I do another mount I try to improve on my work.In order to get more experience I want to try to do some other animals. A friend has given me a red fox, and since it would be my first,I thought I would use a WASCO beginner kit.
My question is the kit will come with DP. I have used cream tans on my deer mounts, and have no experience with DP.Is this a reliable method for long term preservation of the fox hide, or are there better methods,(perhaps one of the Rittels products,etc.).
If I use the DP, how do I use the hide paste? Since the skin will be covered with the powdered borax won't it just become a sticky goo when mixed with the paste? Also what is the puffed borax included with the kit used for?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have a merry Christmas.

Merry Christmas! Jake you did not mention the kind of hide paste you were using, but some hide paste's are not recomended for use with DP or borax. I would recommend pickling and oil-tanning a fox or anything else for mounting. I believe the borax with the kit is intended to be used as a preservative. Not a real good way for a fox, I know some out there will disagree! I use many Rittel products and find them to be of very high quality, especially safetee acid for picklling
