thin skinned young deer,,tad,,freezer burnt,

o deer,,, im working on a young deer skin, is a tad freezer burnt , has only been in freezer, a month, normaly i salt dry but this skin is mostly dry allready,,, should i just go to pickle, or try to rehydrate with a salt batericide combo?
i have rittles batericide and know its good stuff.

Jen,

You should rehydrate before pickling to open up the fibers in the skin. That will allow the acid to penetrate better. Personally I use a relaxer such as Rittels Ultra-soft and Rittels PS-650 Bacteriacide
for a relaxing bath. Just those two and nothing else. I know people do add salt,just my preference not to.

Salt bath

One thing i do with a freezer dried skin is make a salt bath and immerse the hide for as long as it takes to rehydrate. I use two pounds of salt per gallon of water. I do this before the pickle. Good luck!
