hi i have looked and looked and i probably missed it sorry.so i guess im gonna ask.if you can only put the hide paste within 2 inches from the Y insicion ,what about around the base of the antler?does the mache around skull plate hold it there.when i get better i will use the stuff you guys say to use like Epo-Grip,killer glue ect.and also in my directions on the brad ellerys ears it says to rough up and brush on the hide paste and insert, would it help to drill small holes to stop drumming ?thanks again folks

While you dont want to put glue in the sewing area while sewing, put several globs and move it into the seam and burr area after sewing is complete. I dont have to do anything else around the antler burr. Its will not trun loose.
Killer glue is way to thick to move around
Try applying a thin layer or glue or hide paste (the white stuff...not the mache) around the base of the antler pedicals. Then stitch your seem around the antler pedical and you should be able to avoid any glue getting into your seam or cape hair (if you do get some in the hair, just wash it out with water). Once you have the Y cut stiched, then use Zap-A-Gap or Krazy Glue (liquid) around the antler pedical, up under the antler burl and lift the hide up to make contact. This instantly locks your hide nice and tight to the pedical, under the burl as it naturally would be. This will also stop your hide from possibly slipping down or pulling when drying, so you always have a nice clean looking connection between the antler and the hide. Always just super glue and attach small sections of the hide at a time so that you can be sure to get the proper seating of the hide to the pedical, under the burl.
Its in there, as Ive answered it too. But, you did say you couldnt find it, so Ill throw it out there again. Build up the antler base/skull area first. It needs to get back to original size. Then when you put the skin on, add glue. Its always common sense, dont be intimidated because its new to you, youll do just fine. Add enough glue so that when the sewings done, you can squeeze the glue up to the edge. Simple, huh? Also, again, from the archives, dont rough up the Eppley ears. Sand them smooth. Thatll be enough "tooth" for the glue to grab. Being rough just lifts a burr that prevents the skin from laying down against the surface. I use lacquer thinner, but sanding will do. Good luck.
