Does Acetone Freeze?

Submitted by Seth on 01/20/2003. ( ) 66.186.188.1

I have a few cleaned skulls that I am trying to degrease. I do not want to have acetone in my house as I live in a small place. Does anyone know if I put the skulls in a stainless steel pot with lid if I can place it outside in very cold temperatures (5-10 Farhenheit) and it will not freeze? Or should I just wait for warmer temps? Thnaks in advance,
Seth

But you have to get it pretty cold -139 degrees Fahrenheit or -95 degrees C. There are much safer ways to degrease your skulls than using acetone. Epo-Grip Bloodout Degreaser does a good job and is non-flammable and biodegradible making it easy to dispose of.

I should have said......

The acetone will not freeze at those temperatures, but will freeze at temperatures mentioned above. Warmer temperatures are better for effective degreasing.
