I'm interested in getting started in taxidermy.I` have not mounted anything yet but, I did tan a couple of hides that turned out alright.I bought a video off the internet. And the guy on there simply rubbed the perservative into the hide and then mounted a raw deer hide .Is this guy taking a lot of short cuts or is this the way it is done? Can you get a nice ,quality mount this way?

Thanks,
have used dp for years with NO PROBLEMS - have never had the lower mouth of a deer fall off yet - one thing that has really helped is Epo-Grip glues - controls about all of the problems that used to go along with dp
bad bad bad lets tan to improve the industry
It depends on your preliminary work the night before, maybe the night before you could paint some tanning cream around the eyes and mouth area. Then next day apply D.P to the deer cape before mounting...a little combination of stuff shoudnt hurt..!
