I soaked a moose hide to mount and the leather went to crap on me. It is really rubbery and tears really easily. It won't hold a stitch or anything. When I tried to stretch it onto a form it just tore in some spots. I soaked it for about 45 minutes and then rolled it up over night, same as I always do to my capes. Can someone give me some insight as to what it may be. I am afraid it is ruined. THanks,

Could be acid swell.
But sounds more along the lines of acid rot.
Is this hide an old tan?
