My husband just recieved his Catalina Goat. Shoulder mounted. And it is stinking up my house. How do we get rid of the smell? I have tried spraying it with deoderizor but it still smells.

How bad is it?

Even when PROPERLY prepared these goats can have an "odor" forever. Although it is not an unpleasant odor. Catalina goats MUST be tanned and deodorized properly. The only way to get this done is at a professional tannery. Many guys who are inexperienced in these animals don't know that. Male goats urinate on their long beards and manes for their lifetime. This is a LOT of odor build up. I would try putting it outside for a while and spray it with Fabreeze or Malogon. The odor MIGHT let up some. Take it back to the guy and tell HIM to fix it. In the future any "ranch" game should be done by a competent professional with experience.

Thanks Jim,
I probably could ship it back to the guy that did it but would cost me even more money for shipping.
The smell is a heavy musty odor. I have tried Febreez already. I'll have to get some malogon and try that.
The temps and weather outside right now leave out that option. I may take it up the attic.........LOL
Thanks again.

That explains why I see a full mount goat

Then the smell has to be soooooo much worse than just the head we have.
"Stinky Pete" is now residing in the attic......LOL
