ok ran into an interesting thing last night, a vermit skin had amonia smell. tanned skin, pickled the works, tan of liquid tan, oxalic acid, pondered why? finnaly thought hum one time i had smelled that before,,, so took some liquid tan and put some baking soda on it and yep! when the two come together makes amonia smell! i have only been able to find one post about such smell 2/26/00 and it has some notations about ph causing such thing to happen.
can someone enlighten me? should thin skins be neutralized for short time and thicker ones longer time ?

Could be a chemical reaction giving ammonia off as a bi-product or semilar compound. You sure the cat didn't spray it.

I dont remember Liqua tan doing what you mention, but I do know 20 Mule Team will heat when water is applied.

Dawn reacts with some of our common chemicals.

Be carefull.
