This past hunting season(about 1 1/2 months ago) i found a VERY dead buck in the woods. Despite the fact that rot was setting in and it was smellin' pretty ripe, i decided maybe i should try my first euro horn mount. Anyway, the head has been in my freezer in a trash bag ever since and i'm gonna need some instructions on how to do it. I'm taking some Tax classes at the local community college(principles, fish, and bird), and i know to let it thaw before i skin it, but where do i go after skinning it out? What tools are needed for the job(removing all meat, eyes, brains, etc?) Any help here would be greatly appreciated! Thank You!

870, This has gotten lots of discussion on here. Click on the orange "search" to the left and enter "european mount" and you will find more to read on this subject than you might want. After getting all of that you can ask any questions you may still have here or email me and I will gladly help you.-Aaron H.
Boy, you were right about finding more than i might want. SO MANY ideas! But from what i gather, the head should be skinned, trimmed up a bit, then boiled in some sort of a solution(seems like nobody uses the same mix), and then bleached. The problem with boiling is that the head has a slightly tainted odor, and my wife has a slightly blood-houndish nose, not to mention nice pots of which were not meant for boiling rotten meat. So i guess what i'm wondering is just how effective is the power pressure wash method that i read about, and also would a tool such as a fish cheek scraper do an effective job of removing brain matter? I don't want to beat the proverbial dead horse so i guess i'll leave it at that. Back to the archive abyss i go. Thank You!
