when i put my deer sholder form on wall, just doesnt look right,, looked great on mounting stand, had great form and posture,, the eyes were set wounderfully this time, seemed to have the follow you look, but when i put it up on the wall,,, is small room, the deer just doesnt show off its good qualities... in placing a sholder form in smaller rooms, would it be best for down ward facing forms? i have watched peoples eyes when looking at deer , seems they look at the horns then the eyes,,, and it would seem , to make a form and room work together best, would be to have it looking towards where a person would view it from? wouldnt this apply to any taxidermied animal ? thanks

Hello Jen, Here's what I think. In my shop the floor is not level and my mounting stands are all different and sitting on my floor they become not always level as well. When I put a new mannikin on the stand I use a level to adjust the form according to the eye set to be "level". Then I go to the back of the form and use the level again to draw a pencil line across that is true level. This way I can move everything as much as needed and use the level on the drawn line to return the form to level for setting the eyes and adjusting the ears. I raise the stand to approxamate the height that the deer might hang and check the eye set. This way I see how the deer will look on the wall before actually hanging it there. In my shop there are many distractions and I just can't trust my eyes alone to determine what level is. Maybe this would be helpful to you-Enjoy, Aaron H.
i think my problem with this critter is the room is to small, lol
if i stand against the far wall , which isnt very far, he looks fine, in the rest of the room all you see is the bottom of the mount lol i took the picture out of when he was harvested and it really looks the same. years back when i had professional mounts done all they asked me was how i wanted the ears and what turn in the mounts, guess i have learned another lesson of the trade, that sometimes , some mounts arent ment to be exactly where one wants them and look there best.
