THINK ABOUT IT

I ALWAYS SUGGEST PEOPLE SPEND THEIR MONEY ON A PROFESSIONAL PORTRAIL OR AN OIL PAINTING INSTEAD OF MOUNTING THE PET. I THINK YOU WOULD BE HAPPIER WITH IT. GOOD LUCK.

Freeze Dry Them

I'd suggest having them freeze-dried, if they are small dogs. Don't know about big dogs....

Keep in mind...

One of the reasons that many taxidermists won't do pets is because it is hard for someone who doesn't know the animal to accurately capture their expressions that the owner has come to know and love. This can become a problem when the taxidermist gives you back your beloved pets, because even though all of the anatomy and grooming is probably correct, the expression might not be right or isn't what you're accustomed to. Then you will have spent a lot of money on something that looks like a dog, just maybe not like YOUR dog. I agree with Mike on the oil painting or portrait, and also suggest that you might be happier with a bronze or statue of some kind. Definitely give it a lot of thought, and look into all of your options.

P.S.

I forgot to mention above....
You may want to check out your local animal cemeteries... I know of a few that are amazing. If you wanted the dogs mounted because you wanted to keep them near you, I know that many animal cemetaries (or the like) cremate animals. You could then put them in custom made urns. Just another suggestion.....

If you are really interested in having this procedure done, I strongly recommend freeze drying. You can vist our website at

Personally...

I'd take pictures of them when alive, lots of pictures. I'd put them in an album, perhaps with the kids the wife, whatever...I'd take pictures of them hunting, playing, sleeping, having fun...

When they die (the pets) I'd take a shovel and bury them in the back yard. All except for my German Shepherd, I'd probably make a rug out of him, open mouth, so that the next pup can sleep on him...maybe chew his ears off or pee on him..He'd make a pretty rug for in front of my fire place.

Question for those that suggested freeze drying...Why? Is freeze drying perhaps better than taxidermy?

Seriously though, I'd go with the burying thing, or the cemetery, perhaps even the cremation with a nice picture near the urn...
