I'm gathering supplies/equipment, and trying to learn all I can about mounting turkey. (I've never done it before.) If I have a successful spring hunt, I want to be in position to try my hand mounting them. My instructional video makes no reference to treating the feet--it just shows how to run the wire through, paint, and seal them. Yet, in the supply catalog, it shows "Bird Feet Injection Fluid." May I have a professional opinion on what needs to be done... Thanks

There is a lot of info in the archive but the short answer is you need to inject them to keep from shrivelling up. Check the archives for a variety of "recipes" and preservatives available. You fill a syringe, inject several areas and then seal the legs after drying. Pretty simply but there are a lot of options when it comes to preservatives.
Jack, A word of caution...since you are unfamiliar with this process. ALWAYS wear eye protection when injecting anything. The pressure created in the syringe while forcing preservative into bird toes and feet is great. A "blowout" or broken syringe can spray the fluid into your eyes and can seriously damage them. Also wear rubber gloves and apron. Enjoy, Aaron H.
