repro antlers

ive looked thru the archives to no avail,and i have the 38 issue of Breakthrough,my questoin concernes the flange.ok you coat the antler with silicone or latex then start adding backing material,but to create a two part mold you have to have a flange,do you cut thru the silicone or what,the article was not clear ,and ive read it over and over.please someone explain this step in detail ,thanks in advance

I have read the same article, you need to cut the back of the silicone mold to remove the antlers. Hope this is what you are asking about.

are you saying coat the entire antler (both sides)then cut into silicone at flange,and remove one side?or do i cut in and then install flange ie playing cards?im sorry im not following,and i used to build fiberglass boat molds for a living,allright i can hear the jokes coming on that one allready,
