Bill,
Finally after retiring from the military I have been apprenticing with Jeff Mermon of Pa...great guy...I can actually make the NY show this year. Being that it's your neck of the woods, to get the most out of my entries I am going to enter them in the professional division..I have a Mallard, Whitetail shoulder, Mule deer shoulder, Pheasant and Bobcat with a crow...debating a stringer mount of Perch..I'm learning so much now..and working with Jeff your skin gets a bit tough! Is this the best path in your opinion or should I stay in novice? Ribbons don't mean much if they are not judged to the standard..I'd rather get slammed and learn to improve..or am I pushing to fast?..Looking forwaed to meeting you come August...please e-mail me with your opinions...Jeff says your the one to go to..thank you for your time

Let me post them here for all to read and you might get other opinions as well. I would strongly suggest the pro division! As Jeff probably told you, youll get a bit more in-depth critique that way. Just do as good a job as you can. Ask Jeff for one of his scoresheets in each category to use as a checklist on your mounts. Jeff does good work, take his advice! See you in Syracuse.

Get in touch with your state association. In fact, JOIN it. They have scoresheets. Or try the NTA...and JOIN! Good luck!
