No school first of all. And very few taxidermists. Why? No market for them here. I live right across the lake from good ole T.O. Theres a couple of places in Toronto but their work falls more into 'wildlife art' than traditional taxidermy as they do what they want to do and sell finished pieces (mostly repro fish) rather than taking in customers critters from hunting etc. Once you get a few hours outside of Toronto (mostly east and north) then business for taxidermists pick up as you are in more rural areas. I don't know where you are now; but here the population is dense and full of city slickers. From the US border at Niagara Falls or Buffalo to the other side of Toronto (2 hour trip or so) is largely hustle n bustle with some fruit farming in between. There is a limited amount of deer and goose hunting here (lots of critters but limited public land and farmers rent their huntable property to hunters so opportunities in southern Ontario are quite limited). Once you get an hour or so north east of Toronto it opens slightly and once you get 3 hours from Toronto - well heck - it's rural from there to the arctic ocean!
So theres the grand over view for you, no taxidermy schools and poor taxidermy business opportunites from Toronto south to Buffalo. Hope that helps (although not very optimistic).
A guy by the name of Rob Reinert lives in Toronto, hes a past student of mine. Im not sure of Caledon is Toronto, but John Sanzo is there. Ive met plenty of good folks at the Canadian Association over the years that live in and around Toronto. Contact that organization and Im sure youll have your answer.
