Hi: I am preparing to buy Apoxie-Sculpt for use in taxidermy. I am relatively new at it and don't plan to use it much. What is the shelf-life of Apoxie-Sculpt both UNOPENED and once OPENED so that I will know how much to buy? The 4 pound tub is the most economical but will it last if not used often? Also will it accept antler stain as the ad only mentions paint? Thanks, Wayne

Wayne, If you plan to not use very much at all I would recomend the smaller amount. You can keep it refrigerated and it will keep a long time. Painting apoxie gives a somewhat shinny look. You might want to consider Apoxie Clay- not shinny and takes stain much better as well as paint. Enjoy, Aaron H.
it can also be frozen to prolong it's shelf life, but like Aaron I'd just make sure it's well sealed and throw it in the fridge!
I did not have the volume of work to use big bunches of apoxie sculpt, but I figured If I can buy 4 pounds for the price of 2 then it don't matter if I had to throw half away. I have kept it for over a year on the shelf. and it was still fine.
Thanks to all of you for the quick response. I also contacted the company and they informed me of the same except that they allege that it can be kept for up to 3 years if frozen when not used. Have you had any luck incorporating the stain directly into the mix prior to applying? I understand that "painting" the stain onto the repair after it cures does not adhere that well. Wayne
