I have noticed that alot of taxidermists like to buy animals a certain way. What is the best way for a trapper to prepare hides for the taxidermy market? I'm realy thinking about selling to taxidermists instead of sending to auction for next year.
What about skulls, foot damage, bullet holes and snare damage?

Taxidermists use their favorite choice of skinning cuts. Dorsal...Ventral...Case Skinned Specimens...and Frozen Solid Specimens, Trappers generally use Case skinning for the Fur Buying Trade, as you know.
It's up the the individual customers you're catering to. If you have large freezer space...you can cater to each choice as ordered and skin accordingly.
Sometimes case skins are only avaialable...and taxidermists sew up the incision...then dorsal cut it for the form they are using.
The ears, lips and eyes need to be turned for taxidermy specimens. Any holes are repaired by the taxidermist...but any damages, cuts, torn ears, etc. must be described when selling the skins.
Some taxidermists also prefer to have the natural skull too. Just freeze the head in a plastic bag for this purpose...and tag it with the corresponding hide to avoid mixup when shipping your orders....Hope this helps.

So my best bet would be to just freeze the animal whole, right?
I see people buying some odd animals also, like ground hogs, baby coons, chipmunks, skunks. Should I be saving all the animals I collect?
Also what about foot damadge/snare damadge,is this a problem with taxidermists?
