Ok this is obviously a hot topic. now everyone can stop arguing in the snapping turtle forums and bring their debate here. this forum was created so we can discuss this like civilized people- not screaming and cussing each other out. if anyone has anything to add, feel free!

Well as far as I'm concerned and I've said it once and I'll say it again. Anyone associated with PETA or any other anti-hunting, fishing and trapping can Kiss My A$$. Case Closed.

Civilized people kill animals from ness. before they engage in civil debate about it. This forum was not created for discussion per say, I don't believe. If it is discussion you what, join a university debating society. If you what to participate in civilization find a pretty girl, settle some and you'll know soon enough to put bacon on the table...or else that pretty girl will jump camp for that trapper on the other line.

Just as in conventional war, where reason is out the door, so it is with animal activists and regular Adam and Eve. They are at war on idiology, generation gap and just plain BS. Here the entrenched combatants rave: one side ansering to adds to raise a little hell the other just plain add "Kill my ass". Good and bad the sun will rise in the east tomorrow for some time to come.

What kind of response..

...do you think WE'D get if we voiced our opinions on PETA's website? To quote a hillbilly phrase, "We'd be jumped on like a bunch of chickens jump on a worm." (Hey, talk about cruelty! Try throwing a worm into a bunch of chickens. The result will be a feeding frenzy and the poor worm will be torn apart while still alive!)

To each his own, but leave us alone!

im not a peta member but I do believe in animal rights (Not actual rights, more like welfare)- I believe peta people do go too far a lot of times. I mean, I believe animals should not be harmed but I am a meat eater and I do enjoy taxidermy and collecting furs and skulls. I bet a lot of peta members just say they are "full out cruelty free" just so people will like them there but I bet half of them have leather coats, eat meat, like taxidermy or something along those lines. I mean, there is supposidly 700,000 members or something - you know not all of them dont like taxidermy or some type of animal use.

I find taxidermy fine because it isnt waisting the animal after you harvest it. Everything is pretty much being used. Its better than hunting and then throwing the animal in a trash can.

Carol;
First off what do you mean "It's better Than Hunting". Let me inform you a little about hunting. First of all do you realize just how much money revenue hunters provide. Not only to a lot of communities where they stay to hunt, but Hotel business, restaurants, bars, groecery stores, gas stations, and the taxes that hunters provide. Do you realize there more Whitetail deer today than there were 100yrs. ago. The wild turkey was almost an extinct species. Where there only about 800 birds left in the states. Now there is over 12 million bidrs in this country. And this was all done from hunters. NOT PETA.

The bald eagle was almost extinct. It sure wasn't PETA that brought back the population of eagles we have today. A lot of the money was raised by hunters. Look what Ducks Unlimited has done for our waterfowl. For awhile we were down to a number system, and only allowed to shoot half the waterfowl we can now. Elk herds in Michigan, kentucky have been reintroduced to where we have huntable populations again. Hunters do more for this country than PETA will ever do.

Our national parks, national forests, you think PETA had anything to do with the preservation of these. NO WAY! The Whooping cranes, almost to the point of extiction. Did PETA have anything to do with bring back the population we have today. NO! Conservation clubs and hunters are the people thats did all the work.

What about the reintroduction of the grey wolf. We now have populations of wolves again where they were once gone. Lets see, Oh yes how about the black footed ferret. Down to a couple of animals. Now were establishing wild breeding pairs again. Did PETA have anything to do with that. NO WAY! Everything that has done any of our wildlife any good has been HUNTERS, TRAPPERS, FISHERMAN, AND CONSERVATION CLUBS. Not PETA. Their more worried about saving some poor cattle, chickens, pigs, or what ever because of how cruel they're being treated. BULLcrap most of those animals are taken better care of than most people are.

I could go on with this all night long on how good hunters have been to help out wildlife, and how ludicrous and ridiculous PETA is. But it just goes to deaf ears anyways. So next time your driving down the road and start admiring the wildlife we have in this country. Remember it wasn't PETA that had anything to do with it.

if only everyone else knew...

This response submitted by Tyler on 04/27/2003. ( ) 65.68.72.17

Exactly! if more people knew the facts about hunters they would not be so prejudiced against us. the minute they hear about killing animals they feel sorry for them and hate us! we are controlling the population. when poisoning coyotes was outlawed in the 70's, the coyote population skyrocketed and sheep population dropped. now hunters and farmers are making their best efforts to control local coyotes. animal poulations need to be controlled. the PETA sure isn't gonna do it. their going to "preserve" the animals- whatever that means. we want the animals to not go extinct, but we also dont want them to overrun us. i just wish everyone would see that hunters are not cold heartless murderers. we care about the environment more than the PETA!

My philosophy

This response submitted by HOSS on 04/27/2003. ( ) 152.163.189.68

Every time I hear from a PETA freak or read anything from a PETA freak I go kill something in their name. That makes them totally responsible for the death of some unfortunate critter. If they shut up I kill less......they complain more I kill more. I am in the mood to kill something.....speak up PETA.......

THANKS Coyote!

This response submitted by Michelle on 04/28/2003. ( ) 167.196.169.10

Thank's Coyote.

PETA lets look at it this way shall we. If it wasn't for hunters the animal population would be in a world of sh*$. Is it better for the animals if we control the population humainly or let the animals starve to death in the winter because their population gets to out of control.

Befor I left Oregon their were cougar coming in to town eating our pets and attacking our farm animals. Why because some bright idiot thought it would be a wise decision to outlaw cougar hunting with dogs. If you've ever been to Oregon you'd know it is neer impossible to hunt cougar and be succesful in those mountains. Well if you want to save the cougars I'll be damn sure happy to go back and trap a few alive and your welcome to them. Michelle

Did you know there are...

This response submitted by Mike W. on 04/28/2003. ( ) 155.80.89.13

.. petitions going around to have the Feds revoke PETA's tax exempt status. This is because PETA has donated generously to E.L.F. The same folks that are into terroristic acts of torching research labs, spiking trees, threatening letters and calls to public figures and other crimes in the name of "saving the animals". I think it was Jim Carmichael (shooting editor of Outdoor Life Magazine) who said that these people "should be behind prison bars, cuddling thier precious rats. Once upon a time this would have been called aiding and abbeiting terrorism. What can you expect from a group who coined the phrase "A boy is a rat is a boy".
Well said, Jim.

I was wondering?

This response submitted by TexasHunter on 04/29/2003. ( ) 65.90.146.15

I always thought that peta was a powerful organization, but I dont think they are nearly as powerful as I thought they were. You know that show "fear factor" where people would eat cow tongues, and pig a$$es, and so on. Well those people and that show were only doing that for the ratings and for "entertanment" so if peta is so powerful, I wonder why they couldnt have that show pulled off the air, or why they didnt protest the channel that showed it. Something else I've been wondering about, if peta really cared about animals, then why dont they close dog pounds or try to find away to prevent so many pets from being killed. Peta members love to say that the animals that hunters hunt are "helpless" well I dont know about ya'll but I think a rocky mountain elk is alot better off, then a dog thats being put to sleep just because it got "caught", or was in the wrong place when the dog catcher drove by. If I was a peta member, I think I would spend my time trying to lower the MURDER rate of pets, who are being locked up in a small cage, then get a needle stuck in them, all because they were in the wrong place, or because some owner dosent want it anymore. I think if they did this it would benefit animals alot more then what they currently do which is bother hunters and lie to the public. O, and I think it would also be alot better for the animals if they would help the pet population, rather then act like abunch of whitetrash sluts, when ever they destroy other peoples property.

all your money that goes to orginizations like PETA next time you are at the store and put your change in a Humane Society jug. They are strong proponents of and large contributers to these type of orginizations.

HUMANE SOCIETY

This response submitted by Coyote on 04/29/2003. ( ) 69.14.153.151

You people are going to get me going again eh! Does everyone know exactly know how many animals the so called Humane Society kills everyday. It's an unbelieveable number. But thats ok with PETA, because they get millions of dollars annually from the Humane society, to fight in our capitals for the cruelity of animals. Why don't they take all that money, and take care of all the animals the Humane Society kills. Since the European fur market screwed up the fur trade, and trapping has drop to a all time low. Why is it you see so many more animals killed on the roads today. Back in the late 70's and early 80's a raccoon would bring you around $40.00 for the pelt. Now your lucky to gey $7.00 for the same animal. So why are there so many more animals being killed on our roads now. Because they're over populating. But PETA doesn't see that. They don't see the mange, starvation, distemper, and all the other problems caused by over population. All they care about is the fact they won in our capitals, a fight that never should have been. How many of our Senators, and congressmen has had there palms greased by PETA to win this fight. So if you still want to support PETA then donate to the Humane Society. Almost all the people associated with PETA have worked for the HUMANE SOCIETY.
