Hi there, I am new to this forum and hope I don't do anything wrong after reading some of the things on here! I was looking for some suggestions, or opinions on a name for my taxidermy business. I want to call it "Life After Death Taxidermy". Everybody laughs at me when I tell them that! But, in all actualality, what are we really doing? We are basically bringing people's trophies "back to life" for them to enjoy. I see alot of people use their names...Bob's Taxidermy, etc. I think that because I am a women, some men may not believe that I could do as good a job as a man. Therefore, wanted something catchy, not using my name. Does anyone here think that this is a stupid name for my business? I would love to hear some feedback! Greatly appreciated! Tammy

Tammy, I agree with you that a business name should be more creative than something like "Bubba's Taxidermy" or something like that. But somehow "Life After Death" doesn't do it for me either. Maybe something similar along the same theme.... "Eternal Life Taxidermy" ?
Tammy,
Life after Death doesn't appeal to me either. How about using
"back to life" as you put it. Back to LIfe Taxidermy sounds pretty catchy to me. Good Luck.

"Back to Life"
Yours Eternally?
Last chance?
Dipsy Chick's ...Oh wait, that's already taken....
Dont muff it I`ll stuff it.
Tammy,I think you are on the right track with not using your name for your taxidermy name, not totaly because your a female, but because your customers dont want to here about you they want to here about what you can do for them.As you said, everone you have told the name life after death has laughed, is because it kind of sounds like a joke, but i think you have the right idea i think you just have to exspress it a little different.something like "Eternal Trophys Taxidermy" with a slogan like "we will keep your trophys alive"or maybe "Life Long Mounts Taxidermy" just something that tells your customer that their mount is going to last forever!

Tammy,
Since you are already moved toward the life after death idea, how about "Renaissance Taxidermy" or "Nature's Renaissance". After all, renaissance does mean rebirth. As for using your name, such as Tammy's Taxidermy, many people do this because you don't have to register it with your state government as you do when using a fictitious name. Whatever you decide, always consider marketing techniques and company logos. Please don't take this the wrong way, but how will you be able to market your business in a positive manner with such a negative word like "Death" in the title. Best of Luck to you in your new venture and may prosperity accompany you. Alan.
How about something like Phoenix Taxidermy? That would have to do with being 'reborn.'
A note of caution: you might want to do a search to see if the name you choose is already in use, to avoid duplication. You could also use your last name, which wouldn't indicate that you are female. And, speaking of that, I've gotten a lot of comments to the positive side, such as, "We feel a woman will be more likely to pay attention to the details than a man will." But, I'm sure there's plenty of the good ole' boys who wouldn't dream of turning their trophy over to a 'danged woman.' LOL! Many of the world's best taxidermists are women! Hope to see your name among them someday! Best of luck!
How about Nature Owns Recreation.
or Natural RecreationS because we really don't give life back, only God can do that we are recreators not creators.

Personally, I don't think you should hide the fact that your a woman. You should use it. They're probably going to figure it out eventually anyway (I can usually see a difference). If Bubba doesn't want to take his trophy to a woman just because his ego can't handle it....well, that's his loss. I've been getting lots of female customers lately. It seems to me that they would be more likely to go to a women Taxidermist if thier was one around. Contrary to popular belief, I really don't believe that many men are going to avoid you just because your a woman. On the flip side, I can see most of them bragging that "their" taxidermist is a female.
However you choose to handle it.... Good luck to you,
Bill K.
Everyone wants to badmouth "Bubba's Taxidermy", but at least Bubba caters to his customers. I love "Wildlife Artistry" and every customer in there is dipping snuff or chewing tobacco spitting in a Dr. Pepper can. If I say Bill Yox Taxidermy, what else do I need to say? It's NOT the name that attracts customers, it's the WORK. And the Yellow Pages is going to put you right behind TAXI's and in front of TAX PREPARERS. So at 4 in the morning you're gonna get some drunk and around this time of the year, you're going to get a call for H&R Block. Get used to it. Bubba's sounds just fine to me.
Another version: "You Snuff It, We'll Stuff It."
Use your own name..ala: AmysTaxidermy.com of Amy Ritchie.
Where do you live? Joseph Bruchac had "Adirondack Taxidermy" in New York's Adirondack Mountains area.
How about TRi-County Taxidermy? Be creative in a good way...forget the stupid suggestions above.
Once you create, register and use it...you're stuck with it so give it your greatest care in selecting your Business Name.
