I am a beginner and have never mounted a turkey so I was wondering, You can have the heads freeze dried or you can buy artificial. Just out of curiosity, is there any other way of preserving them.

I have one turkey under my belt ,used a cally morris head. Also check Noonkester has them, they are nice as are anthony eddy saw them all at the world show. Good luck with that first turkey.I would start out with a standing bird first.

I was just curious

I had no intentions of trying it. I was just wondering if it was possible. On all the other birds I have done I used artificial heads. There is some dispute on waterfowl over real heads or fake. You never see that argument with turkeys thats why I was wondering if it was even possible to do without freeze drying.

Another way

wchare, You can skin and mount turkey heads. It's almost not done now days as it is very time consuming and a real challenge to make look good but it is possible. As for me, I like the Tab Hinton artificial heads. Enjoy, Aaron H.
