I get emails all the time asking me about where people can get professional taxidermy lessons. Several top notch, industry renowned people give personal lessons, most of which center around their specialty of bird, mammal, or gameheads. If you look, you'll find their advertisements in most industry magazines.
Currently, I know of none any better than Steve Faechner's Academy of Realistic Taxidermy in Havre, Montana. Instead of teaching at his own school, Steve has a staff of 24 accredited champions with over 500 total years of experience working at his school. You'll not be subjected to VHS tapes of A to Z methods, you'll be shown them and if you voice an intent to polish your methods and enter competitions, no instructor will ever touch your mount and will only cheer you from the sidelines.
This school is what most taxidermists my age could only dream of and if you would like formal structured instructions in a multitude of categories and subjects, you'll be hard pressed to find a better place to invest your hard earned money. You can reach him through email at BPFD@taxidermyart.net
And NO, I don't receive renumeration for this advertisement. But it's not a bad idea.......... oh, Steve.
