Is it o.k. to turn computer on and off 3 or 4 times per day if that is all one is going to use?

Unbelievable
Depending on your machine, you might save electricity if you didn't, but it should not hurt your computer. Mine can be on and off all day long...ask anyone who's seen us webcast!
That was all I wanted was a honest answer to that question about turning computers on and off each time you use.Thank-you for posting
Actually a question I know something about..LOL! It's better to leave your computer running all the time than to turn on and off. When your computer runs, the circuit boards heat to a certain temp and expand, when it is shut off, they cool and contract. The process is called thermo cycling and it causes more damage than leaving the boards running at an expanded, constant temp. As for energy used, a computer at "idle" will only use about 15 watts of power. The monitor is another story, it uses quite a bit of juice. If you want to save a few dollars, you can turn the monitor on and off throughout the day but again, it shortens the life span.
One posts to shut off another posts to leave on what to do what to do?
Call the maker of your computer and see what they suggest for your particular model. Good Luck- Jeff F.
Most people will tell you to leave it on.If the computer is working good and not infected with any virus perhaps it is better to leave on. ,
someone posted me and said it was o.k. to shut off it saves memory?
Well I know that if I do not shut my computer down each time windows always gets infected in energy saving mode?but if I shut computer off all is well?I just finished running the maintenance wizard so I'm o.k. now
