mounting a deer head, I put the hide paste on the main part of the deer, but forgot to put it on before I finished up the eyes and mouth. am I in trouble?

you should be okay
The eyes will pull away, lips will pull out and face detail will drum. Take a wet towel and wrap the head to rehydrate, then pull out lips and try to force paste up into the facial areas. You can get it up to the eyes with no problem with a long brush. Then reposition the face skin into place. Not a big deal, if not it will look like a twenty year old mount in 2 weeks.
Take a syringe with a 14 Ga. Needle or larger, fill with hide paste and inject it in a few spots and push it around.
You may have to pin it a lot, too. Make sure you pin all the detail in. If you can't get any paste in there, the pins will certainly help to hold it in place.
