After going to the archives on this, I have discovered that all the so called pros are interested in (especially the self indulged, vain, and arrogant ass George) is satisfying thier ego and not giving real help. Haven't you uppity pricks ever asked for advise on anything?! The archives are full of you assholes bickering! I just want to know if anyone has used a Quebec lite for any length of time and how it is holding up. I'm just about to go out on my own in a year or so after training with an execellent, unselfish Taxidermist, due to a military move and want to buy reliable equipment now. Any help or advise would be appreciated...that is if it does not come from that jerk George. It has taken me years and alot of honest critisism to get where I am now..and I know George can teach me a whole lot more...but I'd rather get it from a human. George...grow up...if you died tommorow I think Taxidermy net would keep on rolling without a flinch. If you don't want to help...shut the F**K up! If you do, I know I could learn alot. Please give it to me straight....but there is a difference between giving it straight and being an ass...a real man knows the difference.
So, is the Quebec lite decent for a small operation?
Return to Beginners Taxidermy Category Menu
Ok first you need to define small, how small? 10 deerheads? or 50 deerheads?
Yes, 50 can be considered small.
Honestly, I vote to buy the best equipment your money can buy.
I feel any of the small machines are a waste of money, spend the extra and get the full sized machine.
Reason is:
A. Ae you planning on staying small for ever?
B. What happens if you need a heavier machine for Elk or Moose?
C. You are going to wish you had a faster, larger machine after the first 12 months.
D. Time is money the faster you flesh a cape the more money you make. So look at this purchase as a return on your investment.
Yep, we are all assholes at some point in our life.
You're an ignorant arrogant rectum (Ken sez I can't say 'asshole' no more...LOL). George and all the other pros...'masters' here...have helped more people than you can shake yer...err...'stick' at.
You may not like his direct replies and good advice sometimes hidden in his barbs...but...then again...it's only because it's 'rectums' like you wearing blinders who don't KNOW the difference.
And...I'm surprised that John C didn't ream you a new asshole in his reply above...guess he's getting too-mellow in his ole-age...or Alzheimers is setting in...LOL.

I do appreciate straight forward advice, no matter how full of "barbs" it is, I guess my skin is not as thin as you would believe, the problem was I could not find after searching a straight answer without reading some wise remark at someone trying to learn from these pros. And if I was so arrogant, or thought I new everything and could not benefit from someones elses knowledge and experience, I would not be here trying to learn. Ignorant, maybe, arrogant ...nope. I have learned plenty from people here and some day I might be good enough to offer some advice. So I'll go on being honest, have a bit of humility and except ETCC's butt chewing. Thanks for hte reply John C, I really do not plan on getting to big, I would like to stay small...so I might go with it...and yes we are all a**holes sometime...maybe yesterday was one of my days. Unlike what ETCC says I realize the help that is given out even by George is a gift freely given from knowledge they worked hard for..butt is that license to act that way..isn't there more to being a professional than just knowledge? Maybe I was raised wrong. Thanks
Your kind are dime a dozen and your pompous attitude is surmounted only by your inflated ego. As far as fleshers, I never EVER said anything bad about any name brand, but instead was attacked by it's manufacturer. If you're in the military and ever made it higher than E-5 (I wonder about the first and doubt the second)you know better than letting your alligator mouth overload your hummingbird butt. Idiots like you are what's given taxidermy the reputation of being a "gomer" in the first place and you'll be sure to fit right in there. If your pea brain had any capability of understanding, you'd know that what you get on here is NOTHING compared to what you'll get when you start taking in work. And as I've told countless other weasels like you, I don't CARE if you take any advice I give but I'd ask you if you feel so strongly that you should NEVER do anything that I've suggested as well. Not doing so would make you even more corrupt.
Mike
If in a year of training with a excellent unselfish taxidermist you learned nothing about fleshers you got screwed.
The "what's the best fleasher" issues have been beat to death on these forums.
I have only had experience with one fleshing machine Mr. Emptor, and again I went to the archives so as not to bother people with repeat questions, I've seen the reaming one takes when they do. I hardly feel that a man allowing me to train with him is getting screwed because I was not taught about all the machines out there.
Served 1982-2002 U.S. Navy retired,E-6.
Pompous? Dime a dozen? and all that disagree with you are weasels.I thought I had the attitude problem.
THE Weasel
Did my questions answer your questions?
I would buy the best fleshing machine I could afford. My love my Eager Beaver, Arlington Cape has a good one too. The rest start to loose quality but will certainly do the job.
No time being related to money. Which do you or will you have the most of?
Here is how I look at it.
A.The better product almost always cost more.
B. A one time cash investment will save you $$$$$$DOLLARS$$$ if you buy a better machine in the beginning.
C. Buy a cheaper slower machine now and you will lose about 50% of it when you sell it for a larger faster machine.
D. Now that we understand time is money. Do you want to spend extra hours, that may turn into midnite oil hours, family time loss. fishing time loss, Hunting time loss.
I have done just what you are talking about and could have earned more money with a larger faster machine. pluss freed up a lot of hours.
Good luck on you decission
This is an open invitation to you to come to MY shop for a few days. How's that. All you pay is your motel fee, I'll even feed you. I also, like John, have a top end machine and you can use it. I'll explain the differences in the "less expensive" machines and you can ask any question your heart desires. I'll answer all I'm sure of and get answers to those I don't. Now, the ball is in YOUR court. Wanna come by and prove to all those you've vented your spleen to what a jerk I really am. All you gotta do is show up.
Hi Mike, Although my experience isnt close to the above posters and archival space users, I would look into Quebec for a fleshing machine. We use one at the shop at it works well. I read above to spend the money for one, and thats true. It may depend on how many animals you plan on doing though. If many, get a stainless system and not many, I wouldnt spend the money. Don't take these guys to seriously. Although this may not satisfy your question, at least it beats me bitching about you to click the beloved search button.
Good luck
Come on IS there an answer to your question? There are different ranges in machines all for different purposes. Re-read John C's original response. He gave you an answer and a very good one. If you are gonna be in this for the long haul invest in one of the more expensive top end machines (there are a number of them out there) ... It is then your job to figure out which one has the features that most match what you are looking for.
I see this as a no win question. I George (or anyone else) said 'without a doubt manufacture XYZ has the best machine hands done' someone would disagree and see Geo as being an a-hole for giving the answer he did. On the other hand someone is sitting there thinking john C didn't answer the question - how dare he be so arrogant and ignore the question.
So Mike what is better a Chevy or a Ford?
Thanks for the advice, all of it. John, Brian etc..I guess the point is that the old addage you get what you pay for and that "Lite" usually means cheaper. Even if I do not get alot of work it will hopefully last longer.John, maybe you can point me to your self improvement program, I need to work on "people Skills". George, I would love to come..summer O.K. I'll pay my expenses though and probably get a lesson in humility as well as Taxidermy. There is just so much out there and I get damned confused sometime. The lack of personal experience with different equipment drives me nuts. I just do not want to waste money on trash, though it will happen at times, I just retired and will be moving and need all I can keep..at the same time I need the equipment to make money. Here I go spinning myself up again! Thanks for all your time and comments..George, E-mail me if you would.
Mike
Although I don't have trhe same number of years in the Service as yourself...as a Vet...here's the best advice I can render m'friend...
"QUALITY"
---------
"Quality is like buying oats.
If you want nice clean fresh oats...
you can expect to pay a fair price.
However, if you can be satisfied, with oats
that have already been through the horse...
That comes a lot cheaper".

I left my email above, but if I DON'T answer you publicly, some penny whistle is going to accuse me of backing out of the deal. We can't do it in the last two weeks of July because I'll be in Louisville at the NTA convention. My phone number is probably someplace in the archives, but I know it's in the NTA Outlook Magazine. It would be a great time for you to join the NTA now and beat the rush. Just a word of caution, however, I spent 30 years in the military and retired an E-9. Does THAT tell you where I'm coming from?
Thanks for the reply's. I think George, I do get where your coming from now. Thanks for serving us..I'll e-mail you soon..next couple days I'm chasing Turkeys. ETCC thank you too. Jeeze George I knew that frame of mind from somewhere(LOL)!
Mike
For the money my opionion would be to by the edger flesher, Authentic. extremely easy to work with and are always there if you have a question.
Can't go wrong buying one of his products.
Just my two cents, J.L. Mooney
