Who does one believe?

LIQUA-CURE:
Van Dykes's catalog states: "This product can be reused."
The label on the bottle states: "Do not reuse old solution."

I soaked a turkey in it yesterday, and have another to do tomorrow. I still have the first solution. What does experience dictate?

Thanks,
Jack

The product has directions that say "Do not reuse." why and the hell would you use it other than the way the manufactors says to?

VD only sells the product and thier guys may not have used every product in the catalog.

Do you mix bleach and ammonia together, becuase someone says its ok? I dont because its not ok and FEDERAL GUIDLINES State use any product with in the manufacters recommended limits.

Jack,

Like most products a manufactures label is going to say not to reuse to get sales up and they do not know how the person is using the product. So to protect themselves they say not to reuse the product, however personal experience might dictate that it can be used again depending on many factors. Was the first bird that went into the solution cleaned a little, and is there a chance that bird might have contaminated the solution. If you answer yes then definelty start with a fresh batch. If you answer no then the choice is yours. This is true of most products like degreasers and pickles depending upon what you know about the condition of the solution. If you are confused as to why one says not to reuse and the other says to reuse, take all factors into considerations and make the choice you want. I could say yes go ahead and use that product again, but if you just skinned that 1st turkey with out any wire wheeling, degreasing, and cleaning and placed it in the liqua cure, you would be mad at me with the results for the second bird.
You cannot live life with a straight forward book of rules becuase everybody is different. The manufactures do not know who is buying the product whether it's a taxidermist who gets his turkeys clean enough to eat off of or the other guy down the road who gets some of the grease and fat off. Hope this helps and doesn't confuse you.

I use the liqua-cure on six or eight ducks ( one at a time )but I always give the bird a final wash with warm water and dial a.b. dishsoap to make sure it is clean. I have a one gallon can with liqua-cure , kemal-4 and a dash of bascryl, always on hand ready for the next bird. I have found if I change out for fresh after six or eight ducks , it work's fine. My birds are also very well degreased by the time they go into the liqua-cure. Oh and by the way... I have not noticed a bit of difference in using liqua-cure or not using it. When mine is gone , I shall buy no more ! Take Care.

I was told that it would eliminate the possibility of any odor problems.
Does your experience dispute this?
Thanks,
Jack
