Airbrush paint questions

Submitted by Jim on 05/19/2003. ( ) 204.211.171.11

I am new to airbrushing and have a couple questions. First, why does some paint spatter when it comes out of the airbrush? Second, can you mix polytranspar opaque and transparent colors together if they are both water based? Thanks in advance for any help!

Jim, Spattering can be caused by improper air pressure but usually it is some clogging happening at the tip. Just blow it out away from your work every once in a while. Straining the paint before spraying could help. As for mixing you can mix any of the water based colors but be aware that some colors are quick to settle out and may not mix in "equally" with others. I use a piece of paper or old envelopes to test spray patterns and colors. I mix up some wierd combos but experimentation is half the fun of this stuff.- Enjoy, Aaron H.

I brought back some crabs from the coast. am I to paint them with an airbrush and with what kind of paint do I use. Also what kind of hardner or opoxy should I use to seal the paint. I have them soaking in rubbing alcohol hoping this works to get the smell out of them. So I can dry them and finish by painting and sealing these things. Not sher what I'am doing please help. THANK YOU for your reply.
