Fish Mannikins

Submitted by Trey C. on 05/11/2003. ( ) 66.53.69.135

I'm just getting starting in fish taxidermy and want to start out using the premade fish manikins out of a catalog. Which brand are the best? Or is it better to just carve your own? Thx

I'm sure that Cecil Baird will come on here to advise you on that one...he's the fishy guy we all love to tease...but knows his stuff about fish-stuffin stuff.
Also...I highly recommend "LICEC'S MINNOW FORMS"...available from..."LICEC'S TAXIDERMY IMPORIUM"..."Hazel" will probably be your Customer Service contact.

Trey, For sure you have to carve some species but for most jobs I by far use the forms by Tom Sexton (McKenzie). They have a super fit and solid construction. Enjoy, Aaron H.

I have used several types don't set your sites on limiting to one persons forms . Some times its best to look and see which one meets your measurments best.

i like to carve mine. i take lots of messurements. they tend to fit and teach more about the fish you are doing. thus leading to a more life like mount.
