The next exam will be in September. You can test for the general permit
or a special permit. If your ultimate goal is to be able to do
fish, birds, and mammals, you want to stick with the general test.
if you are interested in specializing, then that is the route to take.
contact your local WCO or regional office for more informations to
get you started.

Do some research

Find some things out before you go,hit the search button on your ccomputer and type in PA Taxidermy Test. I heard that your deer heads need to have an artificial septum in to pass now,not sure how true that is. good luck!

No septums required

My ugly fish passed,so it couldn't be near as bad as so many have said LOL.

I don't think you need an artificial septum, but do grind out the nostrils and give them some depth, don't fill em in like the old timers and paint em back flesh tone.

The exam is not that hard, but you gotta do decent commericial work and know about the animals , and study your booklet. You do not need to bring competition quality work in!

The exam takes about 1 hour and it was held in a really cool room and there were some really cool reference casts the testers bought in.Huntington was also a a very nice town with some real scenery around it.The Juniata river was just spectacular ( to me at least, all I could think of was trapping it LOL).
