I put a skunk in Krowtann on Tuesday. I washed the skunk in a peroxide and baking soda bath that I saw else where in the forum. The skunk didn't smell when I put it in the Krowtann on Tuesday, but yesterday and today when I stirred it as recommended I notice it is starting to smell again. I would like to mount the skunk tomorrow what should I do after I complete the steps in the Krowtann instructions if the skunk is smelling. Thank you.

I had a little stinker one day that would not quit. i soaked it for 10 minutes in a combinaytion of 50% vinegar, and 50% tomato juice. Worked great. No smell after rinse!
Did you remove the glands? or are you tanning the skin with glands still attached?
Flesh the skin well and return it to the tan.
I know many people are hard and fast aganst the use of FORMALDHYDE, for the known reasons.
What I have done in the past is add one or two drops (eye dropper) of such to four gallons of water, mix well and wash the skin in it
THANKS for mentioning the 37% Formaldehyge Formula...The Borax Pickle Solution was originated by
the discoverer of Borax for Taxidermy...the Great Leon L Pray...using drops of Formaldehyde in it...for the reason you mentioned.
It's like anything else...many people work with dangerous or poisonous chemicals daily with cautionary practice. Heck...yer frendly undertaker uses it evry day embalmin cporpses...and the stiffs never complain.
