Can someone who does this frequently tell me what is an acceptable turn-around time for payment sent for an item, and recieving that item after the check clears?
Thanks for all your help. This is a great site!

Are you talking about buying specimens or having a specimen mounted?
I'm presuming you are talking about ordering supplies?...and sending the orders by mail?...and paying by check?
Paper checks take longer to clear the bank than Credit Card payments...which are approved immediately upon acceptance of your ordewr. However...your card is not charged the actual ammount of your order iuntil the day the ordewr is shipped from the warehouse shipping point.
Paper checks are received...filed in the system...deposiuted in the bank same or next day (usually)...then it goes through the banking system. The supplier or business' bank sends your paper check to your local bank...to be processed...accepted if suyfficient funds are in the account.
If approved for payment...your bank notifies your supplier's bank who notifies supplier...only then your order is shipped for delivery to your door.
Sometimes that mat take several days toa week or more...usually ten days...thus orders are held untril check clears.
If you want your orders quickly...phone your orders in...give your checking account number to the order taker...this will accelewrate the process more rapidly. I'll E-Mail you on how to do it even faster...the way I do it. Hope this anwers your question satisfactorily?

4 days for the check to get there.
10 days for the check to clear.
6 days for return shipping.
20 days max. I typically start making calls on day fifteen to make sure it's in rout and their aren't any problems.

I have one credit card I use specifically for taxidermy purposes. If I call McKenzie's before noon with an order, it's on my doorstep in TWO days. Makes it nice for things that are sometimes forgotten along the way. Might help. Peace- Jeff F.
That pretty much covers it all. Thanks for taking the time to answer my question. Mike W.
