I have searched the archives and found no help. I need to know the best way to get freshly cut shark jaws to last about a week to get them home. Ice would be risky and messy on a long car ride, so I was wondering if it would be safe to pack them in salt or would the salt hurt the cartlidge. Any help would be appriciated.

Use dry ice. Dry ice will keep the item cold. And it's not messy like regular ice. But make sure that it doesn't touch the shark's jaws because it will burn it. Also when you go to purchase the dry ice make sure to ask the seller how much pounds to purchase for a week. I think that a pound would be perfect. Last thing- you can get it @ places where they sell gas and oyxgen for Helearc tanks(welding materials.)
Dry ice is solid carbon dioxide. While it will do the job as David describes it is dangerous to drive long distances with it in your vehicle. Dry ice doesn't melt but sublimes (goes directly from the solid to the gaseous state). The cold gas is heavier than air and will force the air out of your vehicle. You'll get sleepy and could possibly suffocate.
Once removed, just cover them with borax, and put in a plastic bag for the ride home. Completely cover them so they are immersed in it. Will have no odor at all and will not dry up the meat super fast like salt will, which will make it harder to get off later
