Nose shrinkage

Terryr, To avoid the nose shrinkage you must super-flesh out the nose pad and mount to the form closely so the nose skin is properly supported. No cartilage can be left in if you hope to mount a shrinkage-free nose pad. As for me, I don't worry too much about it- just repair with apoxie and texture the apoxie with a scrap of foam rubber to reproduce the "dog nose" look. Enjoy, Aaron H.

Use an artificial nose!

I know some people are against using artificial noses, and I was afraid to try them at first, but I just used one on a fox and it turned out SUPER! I may just use them on all my small mammal mounts from now on. No nose pad to flesh out, and no babysitting the nose while it dries. Try one next time!
