Depends what you want to do with it

If you want to mount it, put it in the freezer until you can get a Breakthough mammal manual and a squirrel mounting video. This will show you the basics. The search button can answer lots of specific questions for you as well. How the animal will be posed will dictate the skinning method for example if the squirrel is sitting on it's haunches then you would case skin the critter, climbing could be ventral cut. Good luck. You can also check out www.amystaxidermy.com for skinning howto's and pics as well as good info on tanning.

Now you can save on ammo since you now have a hunter bringing you trophies right to your door.

Yep...skin it like others. Dorsal sut along back...just one side of center.

Get John Bellucci's Squirrel Videos from WASCO...the best...studio quality. John is the premier squirrel taxidermist (retired...now does oil painting of Wildlife...raises squirrels as pets).

His videos show tips and techniques you wont find eleswhere...making squirrel skinning and mounting easier and fun work. My specialty too.

The Breakthrough Mammal Taxidermy Manual is a must if you don't already have it...also features a article on squirrel mounting. Also get the 7-vol set of Taxidermy Training Booklets from WASCO ($19.95)...

and at least the Squirrel Video from their 6-Video Taxidermy Training set...(also from WASCO)...which compliments the booklets course...showing you hands-on how to do it.

Good luck on your Red Squirrel mount.
