Barnes and Knobles has them as does Hastings. There are even some articles in the monthly mags. I picked up a lot of knowledge about painting in them over the years. If all else fails www.eastwoodco.com has some videos and Sign Painters One shot Enamels.
Jason , I agree with John . They have a lot of books on custom painting with air brushes and this will help with painting fish also . Hobby shops should have these . Depending upon how bad the paint is , you could just sand it off . Paint remover might eat into the fiberglass helmet . If your planning on doing custom designs , then use lacquer as you can tape over the colors with out the paint being pulled off , otherwise enamel . Good luck . Rick
Sand the helmet with 400 grit wet sand paper, Be sure to get close to any snaps or rivets. Apply a coat of base coat primer. let dry well then scuff with 400 again. apply a good Basecoat clearcoat system, with only 2 light coats of clear. allow to dry overnight. then sand with 100 grit wet sand paper. wipe off and tac. the helmet is now ready for the airbrush work. lay out your pattern. and apply your chosen design. them apply 3 or 4 good coats of urethane clear. let dry overnight. sand with 1200 grit wet paper. then buff with a good compound. and electric buffer. Then glaze. You will have a helmet that looks like a million bucks. Be sure to hold helmet tightly when buffing. to avoid sending it across the room.
You paint the gills on that helmet. lol
In the previous post Where It says sand with 100 Grit paper, I meant to type 1000 grit Sorry
You need to seal it with a good coat of autobody primer sealer. Not sufacer. then start laying your base color down clear it. then sand your clear with 1000 grit. then you can start with your graphics clear that then sand with 1200 and prepare to buff
tell me that HONESTLY works!
i'm new at it and i told a buddy of mine i would do his but i just don't know what type of paint to use!
