My son aquired a beautiful large bear skin. It is shedding very much. Is there anything we can do about the shedding...does brushing help? Any suggestions are appreciated!

Lori, Guessing that this is an old skin or rug, I think it is probably going to continue to lose hair and nothing you do will help. Now, if the slippage is in one area there is a remedy but I'm guessing this is a general looseness where you "pet" the critter and fur comes out. If the fur stays put as long as you don't rub or brush it then don't rub it and enjoy looking at it as long as it looks good to you. Brushing will only pull more fur out and will do nothing to fix the problem which is old tired skin that is probably becoming fragile with age (and possibly breaking down due to acids not properly neutralized after the pickling process). If this is a more recent tanned skin the problem may be bacteria damage that occured prior to tanning. Not much hope here either though the shedding might stop if the skin was properly tanned. You can find more information on this by clicking on the orange search button to the left. -Aaron H.
