Ken, Not too clear what you are asking-depends on what you are doing with the hide. If the cleaning you do changes the shape or size of the skin and causes a problem I guess you do, but if it's a wallhanger I wouldn't think a bit of cleaning would cause much of a problem. If you are doing a rug I would say you just need to watch how it dries and decide based on how much the skin starts to change. If you are doing something completely different elaborate a little and you will get a better response. Enjoy, Aaron H.
Thank you. Aaron, I'm doing a rug, after I tanned my hide, I already stretched the hide good til dry, but lately I found some dirt and little smell on the hide (I haven't start mount the rug shell in yet)so, I decide give it a good bath one more time. But I don't know do I need stretch it again or not.
Ken, If you wet the whole hide down and soaked water into the skin I would restretch it. Should be a quick process since you already did it once. It's not so much that it needs restretching but that you don't want it to dry uncontroled as that's where the wrinkles begin. Enjoy, Aaron H.
