I'm hoping he's got more balls than Politically Correct America has and stays the course as promised. When combat casualties during the war were so shockingly low, no one said a word, but every soldier knew they were on borrowed time. What happens when, for every year of peace we had after Vietnam and before the interventions that started during the Reagan years, we lost between 350 and 450 military people every year WITHOUT COMBAT. These were casualties suffered during training or just plain accidents. No one gave a thought to those poor bastards and they may as well have been buried in unmarked graves. Being a soldier is just like being a cop. You know the danger going in and you agreed to accept it. It's now nice and squeaky clean like the Sears showrooms. It's blood, guts, and death or the possibility of it nearly every day. You and your kids walk down the street today in relative safety because some poor dumb damned kid who's paid about as much as your pizza delivery guy is risking his ass to keep it "over there" instead of on your street corners. Now, understanding that fact, what do YOU think President Bush should do?

Sad......but true

Point well made George. To many Americans take these things for granted. It REALLY sucks when you turn on the news and hear of more casualties but at the same time we all must remember every picture is much bigger than the focal point. Pray for the safety of those who put there butts on the line EVERY day for OUR Freedom. Peace- Jeff F.

I agree with George Roof.

We the American public ask a lot from our service personel.

We ask them to die for us.

We ask them to miss their family and friends.

We ask them to miss the birth of their children.

We ask them to stand in the cold blowing snow without any heat.

We ask them to stand in the hot blistering desert heat.

We ask them to eat meals we would not serve to our familys.

We ask them to accept that they may be blinded or crippled in the next few minutes.

We ask them to face the lonelyness of gaurding some poor soul 10,000 miles away from home.

We ask them to restore peace to a country we will never see outside of tv or a movie.

We ask them to be bitten by ticks, lice, and other blood sucking vermen.

We may even ask them to call home so we know they are ok.

We ask them to kill another human being, directly or indirectly.

We ask them to volunteer to do all these things and more.

They are the Ambassador for our nation.

They are the person delivering a baby in some far off land.

They are delivering people from oppression, that dont know any better life.

THey do this for wages that are less than the delivery boy for the morning paper makes.

Would you make this sacrifice for the freedom you have today? They do!

Lets pray that the death wheeled by a few ignorant third world people soon stops.

I pray the soldiers are not having to ask permission to return fire.

Let us, you and I start a letter wrting campain to our congress people to raise the pay from the E-5 and below, they are the ones always crapped on, that do the dirty work.

Yet we allow them to be mistreated and under paid.

And think about this-----

It took less time to take Iraq then it took Janet Reno to take the Branch Davidian compound. A 51 day oreration. It took less time for the 3rd Infantry Division and the Marines to destroy the Medina Republican Guard than it took me to mount a smelly fish!

We were there in our own war times...know what it is. It's the price we pay for cost of Freedom. Green dollar bills wont do it alone.
