I shot a full velvet mule deer a few years back and when he tumbled down the mountain it stripped a bunch of the velvet- he is not so impressive without it so I never bothered to mount him- I have heard of "fake velvet" just wondering if anyone has any ideas? thoughts? pros? cons? Thanks a bunch

I have seen and handled a number of the Research Mannikins velvet antlers and they are a great product. Very durable for handling and shipping. It is a bit pricey so most customers shy away from it, but if I had a velvet antler set of my own, I'd have it done.
I have seen a set a antlers that where flocked to look like velvet. They didn't turn out to bad. I would try this a a extra set of antlers first and see the results. I think he used a tan color then airbruhed in the color hope this helps.
