Shop Insurance

TJ, I went through the same struggle. I personally despise the insurance business and consider it "sub-standard" as many prey on the poor or ignorant--sorry, I get a little worked up on the subject. I went on the net to find companies licensed in my state (NC). We have a company called NC Farm Bureau that has some decent folks. I got my best deal from them. Perhaps you have a farm bureau company there or a company that does insurance for farmers. Many of the companies just can't comprehend us as business people and I just choose not to do business with them. Good luck, Aaron H.

Try AllState

TJ,

We have what our agent calls a "Speacial Form Customizer Policy". Basically we sat down with the agent for AllState and told him what we wanted to cover and he customized the Bussines policy to our needs. It covers Business Property, Business Liability, Freezer loss, and a set coverage per customer piece that we have in the shop. In some peoples opinion our policy may be spendy ($900) per year. But I know that if something happens to our shop or some yahoo stubs his toe and sues we will be back up and running sooner rather than later or never.

I too was wondering about the same question. I'm in WI and have homeowners, auto, etc with American Family. I met with my agent and was quoted on a basic business policy for around $200 a year. (Providing I do not do any tanning). I did my best not to call him a jackass! How can a taxidermist not tan? He said I misunderstood him, that they would insure me, just not cover me. WHAT the heck does that mean? He said they would insure me and pay the first claim, but not renew me. This sounds pretty good, ever think we are in the wrong business?
