I am at a hobbest level and would be interested if someone new of a QUALITY tanner who also does reasonably priced QUALITY fleshing. I don't have the experience to do it quickly or good enough. Eventually if I do more mounts I will pursue that, but for now I just want to do the fun stuff. Thank you.

I don't know of any tanneries around your area but if your a hobbest, now is the best time to learn the ins and outs of all aspects of the taxidermy art. Once you become skilled enough to take in specimens for customers you will probally become to bussy to take on tanning by yourself.
As far as low cost and quality tanning goes, them two ideas usually do not go hand in hand. Talk to the tanneries around your area and find the ones that do volume for established taxidermist in your area. Then go to those said taxidermist to get thier oppinion on the tannery.
Also if you just want to do the "fun" stuff right away you might want to check on the turn around time for diffrent companies. Depending on the time of the year it might be a couple months, maybe six, or maybe longer. Also alot of tanneries will only take in capes for taxidermy quality tanning if you have a number of capes not just one or two, that's the case by me.
Now with all the diffrent variables figure what most important and go from there. I've found that for myself it cost less to go local then to ship them else where. I'll post a tannery I spoke with, I think based in Montanna (if I can find it now) Good Luck!
If you will call us at 1-800-868-1454.... or send us an E-Mail at sentry@ptd.net, we can point you in the direction of some good tanners to help you. God bless Dave.
