hey I'm totally new to the taxidermy scene, and would like to know any free\cheap ways to tan a fur to be used for regalia\clothing. I would like to spend little or no money on this if possible.
I've heard something about using brain tanning methods, but substituting egg yolks for brain? recipies, amounts, tricks, or tips would be appreciated.

There are a lot of post under tanning button. Also rittles sells some books. check your local library, www.google.com
I doubt that you will be happy tanning a fur for clothing by the cheapest method possible. One thing you will find out about this industry is that CHEAP is not the way to go. You very well may be able to do it, but you will probally not be happy w/ the results.
Good luck,
Clif
steve, you could buy 5 doz eggs, a case of limmons and a gal of veg.
oil at a cost of about $25.00 and still not get a good tan, or buy a Rittels tanning kit from WASCO for $17.95 and end up with something that you can use.
Steve, like you I wanted cheap and easy for my first tanning experience. I found a recipe in an old Mother Earth News that called for using Bran Flakes, sulfuric acid, and neatsfoot oil. I now have a stiff, crunchy, and not-so-pretty WT hide to show for it. Not that I am downplaying the experience. I found that I was really interested in tanning, and had to do some research. 40 dollars later I have tanned four whitetails (three with hair-on, one with off) and a coyote and all turned out great- WITH materials purchased from a good supply company and a lot of reading and tapping that orange search button.
Good luck and have fun!

buy the book on www.braintan.com . It will give you the brain and the eggyoke recipes. It also goes into great detail on the process. Of course, the book will cost you about what a tanning kit costs- but I found it to be very interesting reading. And, just like any other reference material you buy- it is an investment in your tanning/taxidermy future. For a first time- I would recommend using a kit.
