I recently purchase 4 red foxes capes on Ebay but the heads are still inside and the feet as well.
THe ears are really bloody. Should I wash the capes before salting them if I do not mount them right away, should I throw them directly in the Krowtan solution (that the tan I am using)and wash them later?
Thanks
Christian

The skins can go right into Krowtann without salting. So either you cannot read simple instructions or you listened to someone that dont know.
Skip the salting get the skins turned and get them into the correct amount of Krowtann for each cape.
Tanning "sets" the blood in the hair.
Christian, yes, rinse the foxes in a solution of Blood-X or other product designed to remove blood. This will make the ears nice and black velvety again. Like Rittel's Blood Eater. You can also add a little degreaser and that will make a fine wash!
Blood can get set in the hair if you let it dry (think of a scab). I would wash and begin tanning immediately. Just make sure your schedule is free so you don't over-tan or skip a step.
John C, Krowtann isn't THAT cool, no need to be hanging on it's scrotum so hard. This guy can always defect to another method if he thinks the customer service is that crappy.
Thanks for the answer anonymous !
Mr John C please read my question AGAIN. It was not about salting or tanning but about WASHING AND REMOVING THE BLOOD>>>>>I think that you are the one who cannot read simple question!
Peace!
I did read the question and it looks like you are asking about different salting and possibly using Krowtann. Maybe I read something there, but then maybe your question is missleading. Do you sell used car?
