when u skin a coon and are bout to sell it.....does it have to be cased or can it be sold like a squar? I read that u should skin them as square as possible in a book called ''the trapper's companion''

I can't imagine a fur buyer wanting a "squared"(open) coon. Case skin it even if you sell it green(unfleshed and dried). The source you quoted is many decades out of date.
I believe a square used to be the standard for southern coon about a bajillion years ago. Ask your fur buyer how he wants it done. He'll only make money off of you if you do it right. He'll be happy to tell you what you need to know.
the book i got it from was made in the 30s
