Use the Search button on the left. Go back a couple days in the Gamehead category and look at "borax and wood alcohol to preserve velvet antlers".
First I have a question. Are you sure what you have access to is ETHYL Alcohol? Ethanol is the drinkable(booze) alcohol. Is it denatured? If not, it may be illegal, BATF regs and all that.
Methyl alcohol(methanol) is the normal alcohol that we deal with in the taxidermy business, it is an industrial use alcohol that is non-potable(drinkable) and much cheaper.
Ethanol would certainly work anywhere that methanol is used, as it is normally used as a dehydrating agent.
it was ethyl sorry bout that.
Ethyl alcohol and ethanol are the same thing. But it can be denatured by adding a poison so that it is not drinkable. Just make sure that the ethys alcohol that you are using is denatured so that there are no other complications.
Just do a SEARCH on "alcohol" and find out how every one uses it. It does vary so you will have to make some choices in your application. You have to keep alcohol in a sealed container, yes it evaporates. But it also draws water out of the air and dilutes it's self, the closer to pure that it is, the more likly that will happen.
