Hi all, has anyone ever gone to the A.R.T. school? Would this be better than going to one single person for taxidermy training?

its up to you, schools have some great things about them , you should do some research the school and see what they have to offer you, i like hands on work so one on one trainning worked for me and that was 20 years ago, wow where did the time go,,,
You seem to already have a bad misconception about "taxidermy school". A.R.T. employs some of the world's best taxidermists as its instructors, but taxidermy is and always will be "one on one" when it comes to learning it. This is not a lecture circuit where you sit back, listen and take notes. It's a participatory sport where you're expected to show what you've learned through actions.
I attended A.R.T. in the fall of 2002. I graduated and started my own business as soon as I got home, and I am staying busy. If you want to learn from some of the best instructors and attend a very intense school that will show you all the basics and some advanced methods, then this is your school. You will learn from a variety of instructors that are the best in their feild. Steve Feachner, the president of A.R.T., and his family are great people with great values. If I can answer any questions you may have feel free to call at (620)563-7659.
I have never attended a "school" but I have attended numerous 5-day work shops. I like to specialize in one area at a time. I have been very happy with the ones I have taken. You can email me if you would like to know more about the workshops I have attended. Do your homework and you will not be dissappointed.

I went for fish about 2 years ago, with a goal in mind. I said I wanted to win a national championship. I learned more than I could imagine. I have been doing taxidermy for 30 years. (as a kid from age 10.) I came home and mounted a fish for nationals, and won. The instructor (Jeff Mourning) was great. as they all are.
Good Luck,
Dan Gill
Glad to hear your busy Eric. I would have agree with Eric. The instructors were great. I was able to come home and do better work than some turned out around here. You will be taught what quality work looks like and how to achieve those results. You will also be shown several advanced techniques in taxidermy as well as creating habitats. Whatever you decide, best of luck.
I attended the school this past spring. Before this I never did anything like this. It was the best two months I ever spent. Steve is really cool and he makes you feel at home. The school is open 24 hrs a day the teachers were awesome. I already have work and have a lot of confidence in myself after going there. If you want to stand out from the rest learn from the best. If you want to talk about the school feel free to call (518)265-0970. It's all about ART
